This page is the entry point to my Photoshop actions and tutorials.
Downloadable actions
To get access to my actions, click here. All of these are freely downloadable and come with a small user manual.
HDR from one Exposure
HDR images are usually created from multiple exposures. This tutorial presents a way to obtain a good result from only one original raw file.
How to bring out colors
Simply increasing saturation may give a cheap, unattractive result. Sometimes it's more effective to desaturate less pronounced colors first. This tutorial shows how to do that.
How to replace a white, blown-out sky
Until Photoshop 2021, replacing a blown-out sky required a manual procedure. I present mine, plus give a comparison with the new Sky Replacement tool.
Lightroom and Camera Raw default raw import settings
Since Feb. 2020, Adobe's procedure to configure default raw import settings has changed considerably. This tutorial explains the new way of working in great detail.
Color variation in Lightroom
This tutorial shows how to enhance color variation in an image by using Lightroom or Camera Raw only. Like the MMM action, this can greatly enliven dull image areas.
Sharpening by halo maps
The Unsharp mask filter is usually effective, but it cannot do what this tutorial accomplishes: splitting the dark and light halos of sharpening.
A better dehaze
The Dehaze effect of Camera Raw and Lightroom has a severe disadvantage. This tutorial describes a way to circumvent this.
